Who is it for?
Our school programme is designed for children aged 4 to 7 (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2), and so far has run with Year 1 and Year 2.
Children explore everyday money choices through Ava Saves Up!, playful activities and the routine Tap, Tap, Pause.
Before the visit
We agree the date, room, supporting adults and practical access arrangements with school staff. Tell the school what helps your child join in.
Agree quieter space, equipment or extra support in advance, including who will provide it. We do not need your child's diagnosis or personal details for routine access planning.
During the visit
In week 1, a facilitator from Pocket Money Adventures leads the Spark Session for one class of up to 30 children. The main activities take 60 to 75 minutes within a school-agreed slot of up to 90 minutes.
The school agrees who will visit in advance. Nathan Waldron holds an enhanced DBS certificate. A school adult stays in the room throughout.
Children hear Ava's story and make pretend money choices using pictures, objects or their familiar way of communicating. They can watch before joining in and pause in their own way before choosing. Speaking and tapping are optional. Adults never do the tapping for a child.
After the visit
In weeks 2 to 7, the teacher leads one short Sidekick Card each week: six follow-ups after the visit. The main activity takes 1 to 5 minutes. In week 7, the class looks back at what it remembers. No child receives an individual score or rank.
Four optional Family Missions go home in weeks 1 to 4, with a Parent Fridge Card for the term. Nothing needs buying, printing or returning. Children can take part at school whether or not their family joins in at home.
The first visit also works on its own. The full seven-week programme is planned, but this version is new and no school has finished it yet.
Pretend choices, no personal money questions
We do not ask what families earn, own or can afford. Routine learning needs no child names, accounts or individual tracking. We do not photograph or film identifiable children during our usual school sessions. Necessary safeguarding, accident or legal records are handled separately.
Does it cost anything?
Free to the school when a sponsor funds the place. Families never pay for the school programme. Sponsor names, logos and links stay off materials taken into school. Sponsors receive no child data.
About the school materials
The Ava Saves Up! School Edition holds the Financial Education Quality Mark, awarded by Young Enterprise, supported by the Money and Pensions Service, September 2026.
